Dolphins' big night

Louth Dolphins Swimming Club have held their biggest and most successful club championships presentation night to date.

The Town Hall was packed to capacity and coach Matthew Clarke did a stunning job in organising and recording the event, surrounded by the team of coaches and officials and poolside assistants.

This year saw many personal best times recorded by swimmers, as well as a series of county qualifying times, which are still ongoing.

Trophies were awarded to the most points winners at the 2015 club championships.

They were Sam Baxter (nine and under boys), Ruby Waring (nine and under girls), Reuben Heywood (10/11 year boys), Harriette Rowden-Jones (10/11 year girls), Sam Abdalla (12/13 year boys), Caitlin Aiken (12/13 yearr girls), Owen Hall (14/15 yearr boys), Emma Krofchak (14/15 year girls), William McIntyre (16 and over boys), Sofie Schneider (16 and over girls).

Owen hall claimed the most PBs at the county championships, with 15.

The Fastest Boy award went to William McIntyre (400m freestyle) and Sofie Sofie Schneide was the Fastest Girl (400m freestyle).

The evening’s events included a hog, beef and turkey roast, desserts, a raffle and also an impromptu auction of a signed Manchester United David Beckham shirt, which went for £550, before the disco.

Chairman Bob Wells and head coach Steve Armstrong opened the evening by thanking the team for their passion and commitment, also the thanking the committee for their tireless work and everyone involved in the club’s continued progression.

Each table was sponsored by a business and the presentations were made by the coaching staff and the Mayor, Coun Sue Locking.
