Dolphins try to drown out controversy

The final fixture had been changed from Hucknall and it appeared that some of the CABSC swimmers had not been informed of the switch.

The Gala was swum under protest but Dolphins again performed well, winning a number of events and putting in a solid performance despite the circumstances.

There was no presentation on the night but Dolphins were provisionally placed third, and this should secure them a place in Divison One next season..

Sunday evening sees the start of the Worksop Dolphins Club Championships at Valley pool.

This is a series of five galas over two weeks and an opportunity for all the club’s swimmers to take part in races, some making their competitive debut, roared on by friends and family.

Andy Thompson, Worksop Dolphins head coach, is taking a group of swimmers on an intensive training camp to Tenerife.

The swimmers will be in an outdoor 50 metre pool during the October half term school break, taking on four hours of swimming each day and land training to improve their fitness and technique.

The ‘Swim Camp’ is self funded but is being made possible by the generosity of local businesses and the swimmers themselves doing ‘bag packs’ at a local Tesco, and car boot sales at Oldcotes.

The club have had exchange visits in the past to Scotland and Germany, but the warm weather swim camp is the first venture of it’s kind by Dolphins.
