The Isle of Axholme Pensioners’ League teams were both at home and the Northern Section had a comfortable victory over Wheatley, winning both rinks to take the maximum six points.

The Central Section team won their first rink but lost the other to Marshall B, losing on aggregate as they gained two points.

Beckingham’s Gainsborough League team visited Melrose for a preliminary round match in the Hazel Lawrence Trophy with several players missing through injury.

Beckingham were never in contention on three rinks, but they put up a fight in the triples before dropping four shots on the last two ends to go down 14-11.

Melrose won 83-31, a big win in contrast to last year’s matches when only a few shots separated the sides.

The annual match between The Champions and The Rest took place at Marshalls.

Carole Booth represented Beckingham in The Rest team against 2016 champions Marshall A.

The Rest won all four rinks to take the match.

The club is holding their Open Pairs Gala Day on Sunday, 16th July and entries are being received.

Anyone wanting to enter a team should contact Roger Platts on 01427 848559 or email [email protected] for further information and an entry form.
