Evolution has five Grand Champions

Nesta Baxter claimed four of those titles, with Chelsea Leggatt also ending the season on top of her league.

Fighting at different events, kickboxers collect league points across the year.

The final CIMAC event of the year was the Fighters Open, held at the Magnet Venue in Maidenhead.

Riley Brocklesby, nine, Mackenzie Warrant, 10, Chelsea, 16, Nesta, 16, and Lee Brocklesby all competed.

Mackenzie was first up onto the tatami, earning third in his -31kg boys’ -16 years light continuous kickboxing category to finish with a bronze medal and third overall in his league table.

In the boys’ light contact and point fighting -28kg categories, Riley fought very well but missed out on the top five in the leaderboards.

Chelsea was crowned Grand Champion in the +56kg girls’ 17 years light continuous after ending the series with a bronze.

She missed out on the double, narrowly finishing second in the girls’ +56kg points.

Nesta has been competing in four categories over the past year at the CIMAC events.

And in Maidenhead she confirmed four Grand Champion titles in the girls’ -56kg points and -56kg light continuous, as well as making the step up to succeed in the ladies’ -60kg points and -60kg light continuous categories.

On the day, Nesta claimed three golds and a silver.

Lee Brocklesby then competed in his second Super Series event, claiming good experience in the -70kg men’s points.

Both Nesta and Chelsea were selected to compete in the night show fights, where they would compete against two Bristolian fighters and fellow Team GB athletes.

Chelsea won her event with Nesta claiming a silver.

Evolution Martial Arts coaches Linda and Nigel Baxter were presented with awards for their dedication and support over the year.
