Excellent start to Standard Bowls League for Beckingham

Beckingham’s bowlers made an excellent start to their Gainsborough Standard Bowls League campaign last week, taking 16 league points out of a possible 20..

Hosting champions Melrose SSC, they won one rink, tied two and lost one, winning by four shots on aggregate for a 6-4 victory, while at Misterton they came out on top in all four rinks for a 10-0 victory.

In the Isle of Axholme Pensioners’ League, the Central team travelled to Marshalls B and lost both rinks with Marshalls taking all six league points.

The Northern players did not have a fixture last week.

The I.of A. Evening League players entertained Belton at home for their first match of the season and won two of the three rinks to win 8-2.

The GSBL team do not have a fixture on 13th May but are considering a practice match, while Owston Ferry visit Beckingham on 15th May for a GSBL match.

Both I.of A. Pensioners’ teams are away on 14th May, with the Northern players at Everton and the Central players at Wheatley A.

On 17th May the I. of A. Evening League team entertain Owston Ferry at home.

Beckingham Bowls club nights will continue every Thursday from 6pm and new members are more than welcome.

Woods and advice from seasoned campaigners will be available, and please wear flat shoes.
