Fight medal haul

Fighters from across Europe competed at the tournament, which saw the town’s team return with a gold, two silvers and seven bronze medals.

Nesta Baxter, 15, won gold in the -58kg girls’ 17 years continuous kickboxing category, adding to her European title.

She also claimed two bronzes, in the -55kg girls’ 17 years points fighting and ladies +17 years continuous categories, losing out to Italian opposition in both semis.

Harry Lenton may be just four years old, be he marked his first-ever competition by scooping two silvers.

He fought brilliantly to earn two second places in his -20kg points and continuous events and prove he’s one to look out for in the future.

Teegan Aldis fought in the -30kg girls’ points, coming away with a bronze in a tough field.

Another bronze was awarded to Zac Baldry, who fought in the -44kg boys’ points section, also having to overcome clubmate Reece Illife before just missing out on the final.

Becky Hourihan claimed a bronze in the ladies’ veterans category, where she had some tough fights, and the same colour medal was placed around the neck of Kev Hunter after giving his all in the men’s -85kg continuous.

Mark Baldry, a current world bronze medallist, claimed a bronze in the men’s veterans’ category while Paige Stedman, Chelsea Leggatt, Reece Illife, Mackenzie Warrent, Jack Dickinson, Vicki Bradford, Archie Lenton and Josh Talbot all came away with a runner-up award.
