Final race of 2011

VIRGIN Racing are set for their final outing of 2011, as the Brazilian Grand Prix brings a close to a ‘tough and eventful’ Formula One World Championship for the Dinnington outfit.

Principal John Booth admitted that much of the team’s focus was already on 2012, when a move away from Dinnington will see them receive technical assistance from McLaren and relocate to a new factory in Banbury.

The Laughton man said: “This is of course the final race in what has been a tough but eventful year for the team.”

“We’ve put an awful lot in place for the future however and whilst it’s always sad to end one season, I’m already looking forward to the next.”

His hopes for the last race of the season are to see the team go out on a positive note, with both drivers reaching the chequered flag.

“Reliability has been the watchword of our 2011 campaign but, disappointingly, we have experienced a couple of problems in the last two races which have prevented us achieving the two car finish that we have been consistently racking up through the year,” he said.

“I hope we can reverse that situation and end 2011 on a high by getting both cars to the finish next weekend.”

German ace Glock is excited about performing in front of some of the most fanatical race fans in the world on Sunday.

Speaking of his love of the Interlagos circuit in São Paulo he said: “It’s a really fun track to drive and I would say it’s one of the best circuits of the year in terms of the atmosphere.”

“The Brazilian spectators are passionate about racing and it really is amazing to drive here.”

I can’t believe it’s already the last race of the season - the year has raced by and I hope to end the season with a positive result.”
