And with the final school being identified from Retford Oaks Academy’s family of schools event, in which eight teams are involved this week, 492 children have been in athletics action so far.

The children, aged nine to 11 years of age, have competed in running events including sprint races and hurdles, throwing events such as javelin, seated throw and 2kg chest push and jumping events like the long jump, triple jump and speed bounce.

All events work on the basic principles of running, jumping and throwing and encourage young people to give it a go, try their best and most importantly have fun.

All children are encouraged to continue their enjoyment of athletics by attending their local athletics club, whether it be Retford Athletics Club, or Worksop Harriers, both of which would welcome their attendance.
