Dinnington kicked off and straight away had Doncaster under pressure and six minutes into the game went into the lead.

A break from their own half was carried on by Ryan Donnelly who was able to pop the ball up to John Stimpson out of a tackle and he went in for a try converted by Jonny West.

Doncaster, top of the division at the start of the game, came back at the visitors but they were met with some excellent defence and could not get through.

However, just past the mid-point of the half, Doncaster got on level terms as their number eight broke from the back of a five-metre scrum to score and leave a straightforward conversion.

West was just off target with a long-range penalty attempt and then a good break ended with Dinnington being penalised.

One minute from half time Doncaster had a chance to snatch the lead but a penalty attempt came back off the post and the sides remained level at the break. Doncaster made a very strong start to the second half and had Dinnington on the back foot from the kick-off setting up their stand off for a drop goal to take the lead with two minutes played.

Ten minutes into the half, Dinnington were back on level terms as West landed a penalty but Doncaster quickly regained the lead with a similar kick three minutes later.

Dinnington’s running game was working well as Ollie Rodgers ran in for an unconverted try with 15 minutes to play.

A crucial moment in the game came with 10 minutes to go as a try saving tackle by Arron Hartley prevented a home score.

However, the hosts were determined to have the final say and in the last minutes of the game they got into a promising position only to give away a penalty and were off target with a drop goal attempt moments later.

Then with the last action of the game they were awarded a penalty thirty yards out in front of the posts but the effort drifted wide and Dinnington cleared to win.

This victory by Dinnington allowed Wath to move to the top of the division and they are the visitors to Lodge Lane on Saturday, for a 2.15pm kick-off.
