Adam Chapman wants to thrive off the pressure at Boston United

That was the tag Boston United manager Adam Murray gave the player after convincing him to make the move across Lincolnshire from Gainsborough Trinity.

But Chapman, who played under Murray at Mansfield Town, says he is more than happy to try to live up to the hype.

“I’ve known him (Murray) along time. I know that’s what he thinks of me as a player.

“I don’t take that as a boost but a bit of pressure as well.

“I don’t want to let myself down and I don’t want to let him down, so I think once I get going in this team, after a few games, I firmly believe I’ll be able to make a difference.”

As well as attempting to have an impact on the pitch, Chapman hopes his Football League experience will also rub off on the younger players in the squad.

He continued: “I don’t like the weight on my shoulders in terms of hot and nasty pressure, but the pressure of being a good player and expecting to play to a standard and having people looking to you doesn’t scare me.

“If I’m not playing I still believe I’m the kind of guy who can affect the squad in other ways.

“Being involved, I do believe I can be a good influence on teams.

“I’m one of those people who can get on at a new place quickly and get to know people quickly.

“I’m not a shy kid, I like to get involved with everyone and find out what everyone’s about.”
