All the action and prize winners from the Lee Westwood Junior Championship

Junior golfers from across the region flocked to Worksop Golf Club this week for the Lee Westwood Junior Championship.

The annual event is a big draw in the junior golfing calendar and Trish Westwood, the mother of Worksop's former world number one, was on hand to dish out the prizes.

Golf manufacturer Ping sponsored the event once again.

Chester’s Nathan Newton heading home with the scratch trophy and a brand new Ping golf bag thanks to his round of 73.

Wath’s George Mason was a shot behind, with Birley Wood’s Lewis Harrison four shots off the leader.

Lindrick’s 11-handicapper Joe Wright shot a 69 for the best net score, a shot ahead of Lennon Albans from The Nottinghamshire.

In third place was James Birch who shot a 70 on his home course.

The championship also included a girls competition, in addition to the two trophy events, for scores outside the main prizes.

Libby Kilbride of Worksop shot a net 74, one better than Sherwood’s Safi Durrant and two head of Worksop’s Rebecca Oates.
