Angry manager hits out at the Trinity boo-boys

A 1-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Nuneaton left the Holy Blues one point from safety, but with two matches in hand.

It was the first time Trinity had lost back-to-back league matches since September — and it followed their energy-sapping midweek FA Trophy defeat at Spennymoor after extra-time.

Frecklington urged all supporters to get behind the players as they fight to stay in the league.

“Some of the supporters are getting frustrated and restless. I can understand that, but they have got to be realistic,” he said.

“We all go out there to try to win a football match.

“We need to be consistent and at the moment it is one good game and then one bad game.

“But we can’t have people turning on us already. There are 18 games left.

“As disappointed as we are, we have got a belief we will get it right.

“Of course (the booing) will affect the players. We are meant to be in it together.

“They should turn their frustrations on me. I have got broad enough shoulders.

“Come to the dugout and fire the abuse at me but don’t let the players hear you boo and groan.

“That won’t get anyone anywhere. We need the supporters onside like they were last year.”

The loss to Nuneaton was only Trinity’s second defeat in nine home matches.

Jordan Nicholson slotted in the winner after 16 minutes from a low cross.

Fine saves by loan keeper Henrich Ravas kept Trinity in the game either side of half-time and substitute Ioan Evans might have levelled from a Craig King cross.
