Awards triple for Jordan Richards ends fine season for midfield ace

He walked away with the Supporters' Association, Players' Player and main Player of the Year accolades and said:“I am so over the moon with it.

“The fans have been amazing so it's great to get an award from them as well.

“And you go through the season in the trenches with the players, so for them to vote for me means a lot.

“They see when you are going through your tough times during a season as well as the good times, so for them to vote for me means a lot as we have had a lot of good performers throughout the season.”

Richards is now hoping to get a new deal with the Pilgrims.

“I am now looking forward to some holidays and relaxing and then it's back to work,” he said.

“I think we will find out a bit more about next season this week.

“I would love to stay here – I have been here three season and enjoy playing my football here – but it is not my decision.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Boston had hit back from behind with three late goals in nine minutes to win and Richards said: “It was a really good way to end it and I think the second half of the season has been really good.

“We have been strong and you always want to finish with a win at the end of it.

“There has been a lot more togetherness in the second half of the season.

“Obviously we had a lot of changes with players and staff and I think with the players that have come in we have really gelled straight away. We came together as a group.”

Richards almost scored early on, forcing a fine save out of Pools keeper Adam Smith on eight minutes and said: “I was fuming I didn't score.

“I haven't scored in a while so I would have been really buzzing with it – I think that was my first shot this season!”
