Trinity concededtwice in the opening 15 minutes and only fine saves by keeper Henrich Ravas prevented further humiliation as their winless away run stretching back to October continued.

Angry manager Dave Frecklington, who said after the game he wanted to bring in new defenders, added: “You think you have turned the corner, you name the same team that has won two matches and kept a clean sheet against Chorley, but we did not start right mentally.

“It is the manager who gets the blame when you don’t turn up, so it is a tough one to take.”

Wayne Brooksby fired in from 12 yards in the fourth minute and Adam Boyes volleyed into the top corner 15 minutes later to make it 2-0.

A minute into the second half Boyes took advantage of poor defending to secure victory and Brooksby added a fourth.

Craig King hit the woodwork for the visitors before Oli Johnson completed the scoring.

Trinity, whose match at Curzon Ashton fell victim to the weekend’s wet weather, entertain relegation rivals Southport at the Northolme on Saturday.
