Bad leg break for ex-Tiger Bruno Holden

The frontman left Tigers by mutual consent at the end of last week, after being made available for loan by the club.

He wasted no time in finding a new home, returning to Brigg, and scored from the penalty spot in Saturday’s game against Halesowen Town before disaster struck.

He explained: “I went up for a header, headed it against the bar and then came down and planted my feet, and the defender fell into the back of me. My tibia went down into my ankle joint and snapped, I could see it, I knew straight away.”

An operation on Monday repaired the break, with two plates and six pins inserted into his lower leg, but he’s hopeful of a return to football within 10 weeks.

“It just depends how my body heals, but it was a clean break so I’m pleased about that,” he added.

He told the Guardian he was disappointed to leave Tigers after such a short stint, and revealed he could have stayed in the Evo-Stik Premier. “It was just different opinions at Worksop, the manager wanted me to be the big targetman and play a way I’m not used to.”

“I had offers from Matlock and Buxton but I wanted to go somewhere I knew and get back to basics, scoring goals, like I showed on Saturday.”
