Be a football manager for a day

While almost everyone who supports a team will have opinions on who the gaffer should pick, the way they should play and how to motivate the players, one Blues fan will get to decide on 10th August.

The highest bidder for Housham’s job will get to pit their managerial wits against Dennis Greene and Trinity’s bitter rivals Boston United, in the County Cup.

He told the Standard: “We’re getting together a fundraising committee for the club, and I wanted to be involved a little bit and came up with this idea.”

“The highest bidder can become manager for the day, be involved in picking the team, manage their team against local rivals, do the team talks. They’ll be involved all day.”

Housham, who is suspended for the game, says the club have received bids already – on day one of the auction.

“We’re not a Manchester United or a league club where people would jump at the chance, but we’ve already had some good bids for it.”

The winner of the auction, which is strictly for over 18s, will travel on the team bus, help pick the side, take Housham’s place in the dugout, conduct the pre game and half-time team talks, motivate the squad throughout and conduct post match interviews.
