Boss salutes fans after tough season

Trinity defeated Tamworth 3-0 at the Northolme in their final game in National League North — both sides having already been relegated before kick-off.

After Nicky Walker’s early goal, captain Nathan Jarman scored twice.

Sinnott said: “It was important after the disappointment (of relegation) to finish the season off in the right manner.

“There was just short of 600 people here, which was fantastic considering the club had been relegated the week before.

“The atmosphere was good and they were very supportive and appreciative of the team.

“You can tell the Gainsborough public know their football.

“Our duty now is to give them a squad they can be proud of.

“They want us to assemble a team capable of success.

“Home or away, what I have experienced in the 13 games since I have been here is a very positive support.

“We will be looking forward to seeing that again next season — and hopefully in even more numbers because a more successful team would bring more supporters.”

Sinnott praised his side’s tempo in the final-day victory and said they could have scored more than the three goals.

“I can’t fault the players’ application, it was first class,” he said.

“Games like that can be flat, but they approached the game in a superb manner, moved the ball around well and showed good movement.

“Nathan’s precise chip was excellent technique and his second was good.

“He took his two goals well.”

Sinnott said work was already under way for next season when Trinity will be targetting a quick return to National League North.
