Boston Saturday League: Pointon and Ruskington beaten in Premier

Ruskington Rovers pushed Boston Saturday League title hopefuls Spilsby Town close in a 2-1 away defeat, Steve Winters with the goal.

Elsewhere in the Premier, Pointon were beaten 5-3 in an entertaining encounter at Old Leake.

Pointon went ahead after 10 minutes, but found themselves behind to two quick goals, only to level at 2-2 before the break with a curling effort into the top corner.

Pointon found another equaliser level the scores at 3-3 shortly afterwards, but two goals in the final 15 minutes killed off their challenge.

Billinghay Athletic’s home match against Leverton was postponed.

In Division Two, Pointon Reserves quelled a comeback from Park United to earn the three points.

They had lost a 2-0 lead by half-time, but retook the lead soon after half-time. Park went close to an equaliser before a late breakaway goal sealed a 4-2 win for Pointon.

Their goals came from Michael Rowlatt (two), Joe Davies and a George Sharpe penalty.

Fulbeck United’s hopes of a place in the Challenge Cup final were dashed as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat in the last four at Fishtoft.

Dylan Grocock netted the Fulbeck consolation.
