Boston Saturday League returns with goals galore in the Sharman Burgess Sports Cup

The Boston and District Saturday Football League finally got its season underway and it was goals galore in the first round of the Sharman Burgess Sports Cup.

Spilsby Town put 13 past Park United in a 13-0 scoreline, Coningsby hit double figures against Sibsey with a 10 -1 victory and Old Leake beat Pinchbeck United Sports 8-2 while Swineshead Institute got the better of Pointon, winning the game 7-4 .

Skegness Town Reserves beat Benington 2-1 after extra time and Fulbeck United had to battle all the way against Woodhall Spa United, but eventually won 4-0.

Bull Athletic beat Division Three newcomers Boston Bears 8-3, Kirton Town edged past Boston Town Reserves 3-2 while Eagle United eased past FC Hammers 9-3 .

Other teams to go into the next round of the cup were Freiston, Northgate Olmpic, Fishtoft and Horncastle Town Reserves.

Wyberton Reserves made it hard work when they travelled to Mareham United, finally winning the game 5-2.

Spalding Harriers and Boston College went to penalties after the game finished 3-3, College progressing 4-3 on spot kicks.

The only game in the Workforce Unlimited Division One saw Railway Athletic Reserves beat Pointon Reserves 2-0, Steve Appleby and Sisa Tuntulwana on target for Railway.

Division Two saw Spilsby Town Reserves beat Coningsby Reserves 3-1 and Swineshead Institute Reserves and Woodhall Spa Reserves shared the points in a 2-2 scoreline.

In Division Three Boston College Reserves beat Park United Reserves 4-1 while Wyberton A got the better of Fishtoft Reserves with a 3-0 home victory .
