Mason Bros Lincolnshire Junior Cup

Wyberton booked their place in the Mason Bros Lincs Junior Cup’s quarter-finals with a 3-0 victory over Railway Athletic.

The Lincolnshire League side got the better of their Boston League Division Two opposition courtesy of strikes from Lee Orrey, Curtis Revell and Ben Jaques.

Taylors Garages Premier Division

A high-scoring encounter at Pointon saw Benington return with the three points after a 7-4 away success.

The visitors were two goals ahead inside the opening 15 minutes and, although Pointon halved the deficit, Benington added a third before the break to lead 3-1 at the interval.

Three goals in twenty second half minutes put Benington in control before Pointon reduced the arrears from the penalty spot.

The visitors then added their seventh before Pointon rallied late on with two further goals.

Matthew Hood hit a hat-trick for Benington with recent recruit Daniel Holland weighing in with a brace for his first goals for the club.

Solitary strikes from Gavin Bell and Tim Bell - his first goal of the season - completed the Benington tally.

Pointon’s goals came from Sam Husband (two), Ian Jacquest and Nathan Wilson.

Old Leake were left disappointed after they failed to take maximum points in their home game against Skegness Town Reserves despite dominating the encounter for long periods.

Adam Tempest got Leake off to the perfect start when he opened the scoring after two minutes and the same player made it 2-0 on the 20 minute mark.

Skegness gained a foothold in the game just minutes before the break when they reduced the arrears to 2-1.

Old Leake continued to control the game in the second half but just couldn’t find that crucial third goal and they were left regretting the squandered chances as the game entered the final minutes.

The visitors launched one last raid down the flank and when the ball was driven in the ball was gleefully despatched into the net at the far post to make the final score 2-2.

Town’s hard work was rewarded with goals from Josh Whittam and Scott Dore.

A Sam Brader goal earned Coningsby an excellent 1-1 draw away at Wyberton Reserves.

Heckington Millers were looking to keep pressure on at the top of the table when they entertained Kirton Town but found it difficult going against a rejuvenated visiting side.

The conditions were dreadful for both sides with the driving wind and rain making flowing football a task and the Millers, in particulr, found it very hard to get going.

Kirton, on the other hand, adapted much better especially early on as they stormed into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 15 minutes with Ashley Davies snapping up both goals.

The home side finally responded with a well taken Kane Brown goal to give them a much-needed boost but Town bounced back just before the break when Chris Hilton tapped home from close range after an Ashley Davies raid to make it 3-1.

In the second half Kirton continued to create chances but it was Heckington who managed to convert the only goal of the second period when Dominic Kew fired home a superb free-kick.

Kirton remained resolute, however, and they deservedly held onto the three points following an excellent 3-2 away win.

Swineshead Institute were forced to postpone their home game against Billinghay Athletic due to a waterlogged pitch.

Taylors Peugeot Division One

Fosdyke suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Old Doningtonians on Saturday and they were left wondering what could have been.

In a game, like the previous week, battered by the wind, Fosdyke found themselves with their backs to the wall in the first half defending deeply and hoping to catch our visitors on the break.

Although Old Dons dominated possession the men in orange defended stoutly as a tight and compact unit.

Luke Stocks fitted in to the back four for his debut alongside Tangerine legend James Hawkes and with Ben Lawton and Craig Slater shielding the defence the opposition could find no way through.

Well, that was until an absolutely stunning 30 yard free kick on the half hour mark whistled into the net to give the Dons the lead.

Chances fell to Fosdyke and Matt Bates stung the keepers gloves before a fantastic finish by Matthew Scott was harshly disallowed for a handball somewhere in the build up.

The second half saw Fosdyke bombard the Dons’ goal and within minutes of the restart they could have been level when Dan Beecham found himself in the six yard box with only the keeper to beat but the custodian smothered the ball well and the same player was denied again minutes later when a last ditch tackle by an Old Dons defender blocked his progress.

It was the visitors turn to hit Fosdyke on the break and they remained a dangerous threat throughout the half striking the post and forcing Ian Jack Smith in to a fine stop.

The pressure continued to pile on from the home side and finally an equaliser was found when Craig Slater waltzed into the box and neatly drove home the ball to the relief of the home camp.

Their joy was short lived, however, as minutes later the deficit was restored when, giving the ball away in midfield, and being caught out, Fosdyke trailed again.

The home side gave everything they could to draw level again though and Matt Bates saw a rasping drive hit the upright and bounce back while minutes later Leon Marsh looked to have rolled the ball past the keeper but somehow the stopper got a foot to the ball and divert the ball onto the post.

The final chance to grab a point came when Matthew Scott was sent flying down the wing following a defence-splitting pass from veteran Marv Jolly but the wing man’s finish found the side netting and Old Dons held out for the win.

Nathan Rivett hit a hat-trick for Boston College in their 7-0 home win against FC Wrangle.

The other goals came from Cameron Holland, Jamie Dawson, Tom Taylor and Craig Gosling.

The match at Freiston, where Friskney were scheduled to play was called off on Saturday morning due to the incessant rain causing the pitch to become waterlogged.

Taylors Ford Division Two

Billinghay Reserves made AFC Tetford fight all the way for their victory.

The leaders remain on top of the table following a 4-2 away win although Billinghay went close with goals from Bradley Walker and Reece Maidens.

Billinghay had their chances during the second half to reduce the arrears but just couldn’t find the killer-touch in front of goal.

Three games were lost last Saturday as the heavy rain caused the postponement of Park United versus Pointon Reserves and Kirton Town Reserves versus Swineshead A.

The other game which didn’t take place was at Fishtoft Reserves, where Holbeach Bank required a further week to obtain more players in an attempt to keep their season up and running.

Fishtoft Reserves will be expected to receive the three points by default.

Taylors Vauxhall Division Three

Northgate Olympic hit double figures against a struggling, Boston Athletic side but admitted that their opponents didn’t perform that badly and probably didn’t deserve such a mauling.

Gareth Tomlinson hit five of his side’s goals in a 14-0 home win while Ciaran Cullen hit a hat-trick.

The other Northgate goals came from Chris Bradford (two), Ryan Frost, Tom Rastall, Kyle Steele and Conor Yarwood.

Friskney Reserves could only field the bare eleven players for their home game against Benington Reserves and they trailed 1-0 at the break.

A deflected effort put them 2-0 behind before an injury left them with just 10 men and Benington took full advantage to seal a deserved away win by adding a third.

Jordan Houlston grabbed the Friskney consolation goal in a 3-1 defeat.

The Benington match-winners came from Dean Stevens, Lewis Mundt and Chris Lawson.

Spalding Harriers’ dismal run continued with a 4-1 defeat away at Old Doningtonians Reserves.

Luke Barnett’s thumping header gave the Dons a 1-0 interval lead before Brandon Harker slotted home the second from the edge of the box.

Liam Barnett struck a 25-yard drive to put the home side well in command at 3-0 before Andy Barnett sealed a fine win with a left-footed volley from six yards out.

In what was a windswept game at Leverton Reserves, Wyberton A started off impressively by showing more of a threat despite playing into the wind.

The visitors created several chances but couldn’t find the all-important breakthrough.

Leverton made them pay for this when a long ball broke through to Grant Huber, who did well to break from the defence and slot home.

The home side extended their lead soon after when a good cross fell to Huber and although his initial shot was saved, Deividas Urbsys was there to tap home the rebound.

However, Wyberton replied instantly and a quick attack was finished well to make it 2-1 athe interval.

The second half saw Wyberton have the wind on their side but Leverton came out from the break determined to hold onto their lead and they defended excellently to hold on, as well as creating a few chances to extend their lead.

Wyberton kept on attacking with their two wingers both creating problems for Leverton, but the home side were resolute and kept their opponents at bay until the 86th minute.

Wyberton were thrown a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty but Leverton’s Ben Shaw came to his side’s rescue when he got down well to make a fine save and keep his team on track for the 2-1 win.
