Following several years battling against relegation, Town were sat 11th in the United Counties League Premier Division table when the COVID-19 outbreak meant the campaign was declared null and void.

Boston had also enjoyed reaching the FA Cup’s second qualifying round.

“The FA Cup is always a big thing for us, but next season the main target will be the league and breaking into that top eight,” Edgley said.

“That will be extremely hard. I was talking to my backroom staff about the top teams and how they can mix it up, play from the back or go direct if they have to.

“We need to be able to adapt to that if we want to be up there with them.

“We need to change the way we play a little bit.

“We’ve already identified four players we want to bring in to help us do that, to be added to the group.”
