Gary Edgley has plenty of respect for Pinchbeck United boss Ian Dunn... but the Boston Town manager is still plotting to add to his rival’s misery.

The Poachers travel to face the United Counties League Premier Division basement boys on Saturday, keen to pick up three points as they bid for a top-10 finish.

Dunn and then-joint manager Matt Hocking were the last Town bosses to secure a 10th-place finish for the Poachers back in 2012-13, Boston’s best league position since the departure of long-serving manager Bob Don-Duncan.

But after leaving the DWB Stadium and tasting success with the Knights, Dunn has had a difficult campaign due to financial restrictions.

“Their manager deserves a lot of credit. To be fair I was in this situation last year,” Edgley said.

“Dunny could’ve jumped but he’s sticking it out and trying to do he best for the club.

“It hasn’t been an easy season for him.”

Edgley, however, isn’t taking the Knights lightly, knowing what that the emotions of a Lincolnshire derby can do to the form book.

Sleaford Town, who propped up the table for most of the campaign, earned their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw against Boston in December.

“Pinchbeck will look at what Sleaford did to us and that will motivate the players,” Edgley added.

“They’ll be thinking ‘if Sleaford can do that then so can we’.”
