Craig Elliott has given the revamped FA Trophy schedule the thumbs up.

Boston United and their fellow regionalised National League sides were due to enter the competition at the second round stage on December 5.

However, with the national lockdown - due to end on December 2 - affecting the previous round, organisers have put dates back.

The first round will now take place from Tuesday, December 8, with the second round beginning a week later on Tuesday, December 15.

Victorious teams will then have a swift turnaround as the third round will be held on Saturday, December 19.

Clubs will then turn their attention back to league action before round four takes place on Saturday, January 16.

"I quite like how they've done the FA Trophy, to be honest," Elliott told The Standard.

"You can kind of concentrate on it for a full week instead of waiting for it to come around again.

"Then you can get back to planning for the league again."
