Dennis Greene says his Boston United side are displaying play-off form after celebrating Gregg Smith's stoppage-time winner at AFC Telford.

“From three yards, with the size of Gegg, no-one’s going to stop him steamrollering that one in,” smiled Greene, a week after watching his side concede a heartbreaking last-gasp leveller at Nuneaton.

“It means a lot to us.

“We’ve had a lot of criticism, rightly so as we only won one of our opening eight games.

“But now we’ve only lost one league game in the last nine, so we’re doing well.

“Sixteen points from nine games - that’s play-off form.

“If we only lost one of our next nine then we can be up and around there again.”

Super sub Smith came off the bench to force home a stoppage-time winner after Jay Rollins burst down the right and teed up a low pinpoint cross which the forward powered home from close range.

Cue the Pilgrims joining the travelling fans in a chaotic huddle.

Jason St Juste had handed Boston a 15th minute lead, his first goal for the club in his 19th appearance, before Josh Wilson levelled midway through the second half for the hosts, who had been reduced to 10 men following Ben O’Hanlon’s straight red card.

But it was Smith, who has already scored memorable late winners against Bradford Park Avenue and Alfreton, who had the last laugh with his sixth of the season.
