Boston United can shine, despite defeats believes Sai Sashdev after first goal for the Pilgrims

Sheffield United loanee Sai Sashdev netted his first Boston United goal and, despite losing today's home clash 3-2 to two late Hornchurch goals, he believes the Pilgrims can shine this season.

“We have the ability to be excellent in this league,” he said.

“We went to Boreham Wood on Thursday and, although we lost, we were their toughest test so far and showed great team spirit.

“We are a very good team and just need to tidy up these little things and perform for 90 minutes.

“It was a tough afternoon today.

“First half we had the highs of football, going in feeling confident, ready to come out second half and do the same performance and dominate, taking advantage of their weaknesses.

“But it's football at the end of the day and we've ended up with no points. So we have to dust ourselves down and we have another game coming up on Saturday.

“It was a really good first half but the gaffer has just said the game is 90 minutes and not 45.

It's no good just doing it for 45 minutes, we have to stay on top for the full 90 and get the three points ultimately.

“I am not sure what the problem is. We are a new group but we have won games with this group and we train well.

“We feel confident going into games. Maybe we need to look at our fitness as we are so good for 45 minutes. Maybe it's something else.

“We will have a look in training in the week and figure it out, then attack Saturday.”

On his goal which gave Boston a 2-1 lead just before the break, he said: “It's something I'd like to add to my game.

“I like to get in good areas, but I want to get some goals and assists which will look good on my tally at the end of the season.

“Hopefully there is more to come. But the three points are what matters and anyone could have scored today.

“I would have taken not scoring if we could have got the three points today.”

The Pilgrims twice led through goals by Sachdev and Ken Aboh, but the visitors rose to the challenge and netted twice in the last 10 minutes to make it four wins in five games and move up to third in the National League table.

Boston turned in an impressive first half display and were deservedly finally ahead through Aboh's fourth goal in five games on 31 minutes after a superb home move.

However, a Jake Rooney own goal on 41 minutes had the Urchins briefly level only for Sachdev to restore the home side's advantage within two minutes.

Hornchurch were much improved after the break and took control of possession.

Boston held out until the 80th minute, but Aaron Rowe's close range finish finally broke the home resistance and levelled before Bobby Kelman stole an 87th minute winner.
