Boston United will be clocking up the miles next season in the National League North.

Anyone from the town attending all 21 away matches next season will cover at least 2,842 miles, at an average of 135 miles per match.

The longest away trek will be to Blyth Spartans, one of four opponents based in the north east.

Gateshead, Southport, AFC Fylde and Spennymoor Town will be the other destinations amongst the top five longest journeys from Pilgrim Way.

The closest away game from Boston will be at old foes Kettering Town, who have one of just four stadiums less than 100 miles away from the Jakemans Community Stadium.

The miles covered will be greater than last season as promoted Altrincham and King’s Lynn have been replaced by relegated Fylde and Chorley.

With Lynn’s promotion, the Pilgrims now become the most easterly placed side in the division.

While manager Craig Elliott and his current squad members are all based outside of Lincolnshire, some club officials look set to be travelling the distances in full.

It remains unclear whether away fans will be able to travel to all National League North games next season. Last month Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggested supporters may be able to return in October, but that depends on how the COVID-19 situation develops.

Next season’s distances: Blyth Spartans - 199 miles; Gateshead - 185 miles; Southport - 177 miles; AFC Fylde - 175 miles; Spennymoor Town - 166 miles; Chester FC - 165 miles; Hereford FC - 160 miles; Gloucester City - 159 miles; Chorley FC - 157 miles; Darlington FC - 150 miles; AFC Telford United - 128 miles; Kidderminster Harriers - 127 miles; Curzon Ashton - 122 miles; York City - 119 miles; Guiseley - 115 miles; Bradford Park Avenue - 111 miles; Farsley Celtic - 109 miles; Leamington - 98 miles; Brackley Town - 95 miles; Alfreton Town - 65 miles; Kettering Town - 60 miles.
