Boston United's impressive pre-season continued with a second-half fightback to secure a 2-2 draw at FC Halifax Town.

Following victories over a young Hull City side and Gainsborough Trinity, the Pilgrims fought back from 2-0 down to level things up at The Shay.

Boston's starting XI featured new recruit Fraser Preston. The Shaymen took just nine minutes to find the net, Kieran Green converting Jeff King's deep cross.

Boston looked to get on level terms but good chances for Jordan Archer, Connor Dimaio and Terry Hawkridge failed to hit the target.

Jake Hyde made it 2-0 in the 31st minute as he headed home Jack Senior's cross.

The hosts took that two-goal advantage into the interval, although Dimaio came within a whisker of reducing the arrears, his curler hitting the Town crossbar.

It was Dimaio who came close again after the re-start when he forced a save from Sam Johnson, before opposite number Ross Fitzsimons was called upon to deny Matt Stenson.

United made seven changes just after the hour mark and within seconds of his arrival Jordan Thewlis came within a whisker of netting, an effort flashing wide of goal.

Thewlis did get on the scoresheet in the 67th minute, converting from the spot after being tripped when clean through on goal.

And United were level five minutes later as ex-Shaymen striker Jordan Burrow levelled, finishing low from six yards out.
