Boston United will face a strong Huddersfield Town side in a pre-season fixture on Saturday.

The Pilgrims will continue their warm-up matches by taking on a Terriers team at the Canalside Sports Complex, Town's training venue.

Huddersfield - who have ex-United loanees Demeaco Duhaney and Aaron Rowe in their squad - face Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Friday evening.

"I had a conversation with Huddersfield and they're expecting to put a strong team out," manager Craig Elliott revealed.

"They play on the Friday night and any first teamers on the bench or not playing will be involved Saturday, so they should be pretty strong."

United were due to face National League Notts County in a friendly tomorrow (Tuesday) but that has been cancelled due to the Magpies' FA Trophy semi-final against Harrogate Town taking place on the same date.

"I think we could do with a couple more friendlies," said Elliott, whose side kick off competitive action in the FA Cup on October 3.

It has been a strange summer for Boston who have struggled to get the warm-up matches they wanted due to other leagues kicking off a month earlier and the Jakemans Community Stadium still being under construction.

Add to that the fact half of United's squad have recently competed in the National League North play-offs while the rest have been without action since March, and Elliott has been left with a bizarre juggling act.

"Like we keep saying, the biggest problem I'm having is working out who needs minutes more than others," the manager added.

"It's not normal you can draw a line down the middle of a squad and some players need friendlies more than others.

"We've been scrambling around for friendlies as not a lot of teams want to play, and we don't have a ground, so it's been pretty hard and we're thankful to get a good game in (at Huddersfield)."
