Boston United sign ex-Crewe Alexandra, Notts County and Shrewsbury Town defender Matt Tootle

Matt Tootle has joined Boston United.

The 29-year-old right back is Craig Elliott’s sixth summer signing.

Widness-born Tootle came through Crewe Alexandra’s youth set-up, making 199 appearances between 2009 and 2015, winning the 2012 League Two play-offs and Football 2013 League Trophy.

He has also turned out for Sheesbury Town and Notts County, where he played 95 times between 2016 and this summer.

Tootle was a Magpies teammate of new United keeper Ross Fitzsimons.

Tootle follows Fitzsimons, Jordan Burrow, Lewis Gibbens, Connor Dimaio and Paul Green as the club’s summer recruits so far.
