Boston United's play-off hopes are still alive, says boss Greene

Despite today’s 2-1 home defeat to struggling Brackley, results elsewhere in the National League North proved kind for the Pilgrims.

When asked where his team’s top five dreams lay, Greene responded: “Unbelievably, after today’s result nothing’s different... but there’s six games to go.

“Tamworth lost, Chorley lost, Stockport lost. Nuneaton are the only team who won and they lost three points in the week.

“It’s the same position.”

Boston will have to address their recent poor form - collecting just four points from a possible 24 - if they are to force their way up from seventh, beginning with Monday’s trip to promotion rivals Tamworth.

Reflecting on today’s match, Greene believed he is continuing to see the same recent pattern emerge.

He added: “The first 45 was a mirror image of the last few weeks, dominant in the first 25 minutes and countless opportunities.

“We never took them and we got done for ridiculous defending from the goal.

“We conceded a goal and lost our dominance, quality, control.

“Then we huffed and puffed second half. When we concede it just seems to knock the stuffing out of us.”
