David Newton says Boston United are still on target to move into their new ground this summer.

While the Coronavirus outbreak means restrictions on how society functions are changing daily, construction work is continuing at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

"That's the case right now, we're trying to get on with it, Mr Newton said.

"It's a really difficult period but at some point we will get back to normal and we have to be ready for that.

"At the moment we're pressing ahead, with a view to playing there in August, if football is being played then.

"We have cut down face to face meetings and only want essential travel for work. But construction continues at the moment."

While the Pilgrims are still paying staff and player wages despite no matchday revenue due to the suspension of football in the country, Mr Newton says that will have no knock-on effect on financing the stadium, located at the south of the town.

Mr Newton - who has already stressed he hopes the club's supporters and employees can 'stay safe' - added: "The building of the stadium and the football club are separate issues.

"The stadium comes under the Community Interest Club, and money for the stadium stays there. It can't be moved around."
