Can Boston's Danny Butterfield earn a second memorable cup success against Liverpool?

The Boston-born 36-year-old is currently player-coach at Exeter City.

And the League Two Grecians are hoping to cause a shock tonight as they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in a third-round replay (KO 8pm).

After helping mastermind Exeter’s 2-2 draw at St James’ Park against the Reds on January 8, tonight will see the former Crystal Palace and Southampton defender return to the scene of one of his most memorable victories.

It was back in October 2001 that the former Boston Grammar School pupil was part of the Grimsby Town side which recorded a 2-1 victory on Merseyside to knock Liverpool out of the Worthington Cup.

Former Boston United defender Ben Chapman was also part of the Mariners side on that memorable evening.

And there is another Pilgrims connection in tonight’s tie, with ex-York Street favourite David Noble part of the City squad.
