Climbing the table is Robinson's Pilgrims priority

The defender - who arrived on loan from York City alongside teammate Ben Clappison - arrived at the Jakemans Stadium desperate for first-team action.

He thought he had made his debut in the original FA Trophy clash at Witton Albion, only for that to be postponed at half time due to thick fog, his appearance for United rendered null and void.

But on Saturday he finally got his chance in the 3-3 draw at Stalybridge Celtic, after being given the nod by stand-in manager Martyn Bunce.

“I’m delighted to make my debut,” said Robinson, who has found opportunities hard to come by with the Minstermen since moving over from Ireland in the summer.

“It’s my first 90 in a couple of months, so I’m glad to come here and play for the chairman.

“I’ve spoken to the chairman a few times and he’s a nice guy.

“Martyn’s given me a chance and I’ll definitely show them I’m worth it, and hopefully get Boston up the table.”

Turning his attention to the frustrations of missing out on first-team football since joining National League strugglers York, Robinson admitted that it had been hard not seeing more game time.

But he said he is now thoroughly committed to helping the Pilgrims pull away from the bottom half of the table.

He added: “It’s been very hard to come over.

“I expected it to be hard, but I expected more chances.

“My focus is my loan spell at Boston, and I hope I can play well and show what I can do.

“You never know who’s watching a game.”
