Craig Elliott has this message for the Boston United fans ahead of tonight’s big FA Cup clash

Craig Elliott has called on the fans to play their part as Boston United look to cause an FA Cup upset.

The Pilgrims are desperate to beat League One Rochdale and book a place in round three, where they would face Newcastle United.

And he knows that his squad will need the backing of the 3,500-plus home supporters who will be in the stadium.

“They are going to play a big part,” he said of the fans.

“They (Rochdale) are a League One team and we need that energy and atmosphere because there will be periods in which we tire.

“The crowd play big parts in FA Cup games and we’ll need them.”

While Elliott has warned his side not to let the occasion get the better of them, he wants the fans to be in full voice and having a great time.

“One of my big motivations was to see York Street street full, especially the Town End,” he added.

“Let other people enjoy the occasion because, our job, there’s a game to be won.”
