Craig Elliott has been ‘humbled’ by the Boston United support this week. Now he wants to repay they with promotion.

The Pilgrims’ final two games at York Street are being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But despite supporters not being able to be at the games, Elliott says his phone has been busy pinging with good luck messages throughout the build up to the National League North play-off final.

“It’s always humbling when you get messages and see photos of fans watching the game,” Elliott said ahead of today’s final against Altrincham (3pm).

“We’ve had lots of good luck messages, they’ve been absolutely brilliant again.

“It’s disappointing they can’t be there but we want to create a memory so Boston fans won’t forget this period in the club’s history.

“They’d all prefer to be there, but in a twisted way we want to be successful and give them something to look back on.”

While members of the squad are also receiving good luck messages, Elliott is calling on one final push for the supporters, who will be at home and at gatherings watching the action on a live stream.“My message to the players is don’t forget the fans,” Elliott continued.

“They are with us, but the bigger picture is we want to be in the league above.

“That’s what we’re here to do, get promotion.”

“We’ve all worked hard, from the volunteers to the players at the club, to have weeks like this.

“I know the nerves are there for a lot of people and the week’s dragged, but it’s why we do it and work so hard.”
