"We made Brad two or three offers since Christmas but couldn't come to an agreement," Elliott told The Standard.
"It's a shame, he's got his reasons for moving on and I wanted him to stay.
"But I've got nothing but good things to say, he's been an incredible signing for me and a pleasure to manage.

"I wish him nothing but well, these things happen in football. Good luck to the lad, he'll go on and do well whoever he signs for."
