Defender on his long distance relationship with Worksop side

Hill, originally signed from Coalville in the summer, left the club before the season began after a career move to London.

But he has repaid the support Tigers boss Mark Shaw gave him in helping fix up a move to Dartford in the Conference Premier, by making the longest of commutes to feature at Sandy Lane.

Hill explained his unusual arrangement with Worksop: “When I’m needed I get drafted in.”

“I’ve gone down there, a bit late in pre-season to really show them what I can do so I’ve not been thrown straight in because I’ve not played that level before.”

“I’ve struggled to get games, I’ve been on the bench a few times and got about a game and a half back in November, but nothing solid so I asked if I could go out and get a few games.”

“I got in touch with Mark Shaw and he had a bit of a crisis with Loz Gaughan out and Adam Quinn injured, so I was happy to help out because he helped me when I moved down to London.”

The 22-year-old has gone from a struggling Dartford set-up to a Tigers side challenging at the top, and he’s enjoying the spell of action.

“It’s nice to be in a winning team,” he said.

“I’m learning lots and hopefully I can stay as long as I can.

“I would like to get into the Conference and show I can do it at that level, but if I can keep my fitness up and get games up here then it’s great.”
