Trinity were well beaten at Gloucester as they were left waiting for their first win of the season.

A furious Roma said: “You can’t give yourself a chance to win games if you are going to concede sloppy goals – and that’s what we have done.

“That is something that very much needs addressing and is what has done for us in each of the last two games.

“Although the score line perhaps doesn’t suggest an improvement. We did look a lot better and started a lot more positively.

“We got the penalty after a good start, missed it, but reacted well again after that. We have given away a sloppy goal, but reacted positively again and got back into the game immediately.

“Unfortunately we have switched off and let ourselves down just before half time. We haven’t been aware of our men – and the run in the box. We have to be sharper…”

“For the fourth goal, we are chasing the game, but again we haven’t been good enough. We haven’t made a tackle, we haven’t influenced things as well as we could have.

“Ultimately, there is no point us showing grit and determination, trying to play the ball forwards – if we can’t get the basics right. We’re just not going to win games of football.

“We’ve now got to regroup and go again on Tuesday. The players know what Foz (assistant manager, Martin Foster) and I expect of them and they know what I want to see. The lads are under no illusions of what we want from them and the players collectively have two options as to which way our season goes from here.”

Trinity face Harrogate on Tuesday with Roma expecting a positive reaction from his side.
