Gainsborough boss Dom Roma believes that there are plenty of positives to take from the defeat to Harrogate on Tuesday night despite falling to a third defeat in succession.

Two first half goals for Town saw off the Blues as despite an improved second half performance, they could not peg them back.

Roma said: “A lot of positives to come from tonight. It’s hard to come for the lads for the first goal as he’s picked the top corner out from range, I don’t think there were a keeper in the league who would save that.

“The second has come from a clearance and as a defender you should always be switched on. We competed well with them in the first half. The games in this league are always going to be scrappy for half an hour until it settles down. Then when it settles down we can play some football.”

“We came out second half, moved the ball better, limited them to not very many opportunities and we’ve created some good chances. Jake’s had one which was set to him and if that goes in it is game on for the last few minutes.”

Roma, a former Harrogate player himself, argued that his side are not getting the rub of the green at the moment in front of goal.

He said: “We had shots, half shots and deflections which just aren’t falling for us at the moment.

“There was one stage in the first half where the defender slipped when the balls come in and somehow headed it to his keeper so the fine margins aren’t going for us at the moment but we have to believe in the group that we have got.

“We have competed well with a good team in our league so there’s a lot of positives to come from that and I wanted that reaction from Saturday.”
