At the age of 30, Roma admits thoughts of management were a long way off this time last week.

But following Thursday night’s news of Steve Housham’s departure, Roma was thrust into the top job at Trinity until the end of the season.

And despite a few turbulent days, Roma says he intends to get as much advice as possible from his old colleagues.

One such person is Chris Morgan, a former teammate of Roma’s and now assistant at League One side Chesterfield.

Roma said: “It’s not something that I had given much thought about.

“I’ve done some coaching at youth level but it’s not the same.

“I spoke to Chris Morgan earlier in the week and he said it’s a good opportunity for me.

“He said that it’s one that I should try and enjoy.

“When I was at Sheffield United, he was my captain and he has gone down a similar route.

“When Danny Wilson left United, Chris was thrust into it.

“I wanted to get a bit of advice on how to approach it.

“He’s always been there for me so it’s something I can tap into.

“There’s not many people more suited to it than Morgs.

“I’m just going to try and tap into as many people as I can.”
