The door remains open for Dayle Southwell at Boston United, according to manager Craig Elliott.

The striker has returned to parent club FC Halifax Town after his initial month-long loan spell came to an end on Saturday.

Southwell - who previously scored 54 times in 87 appearances at York Street between 2014 and 2016 - played a further four times after joining on December 5.

Although he didn't find the net on his return, Elliott would still be keen to have the 26-year-old in his squad.

"It's up in the air at the moment," Elliott said.

"We're waiting on Halifax really. He's talking to Halifax about what his future holds there.

"I'm still interested in bringing him back but it's more a decision for Dayle and Halfiax, I think."
