FA rejects plans for National League North and South merger competition

Plans to hold a joint National League North and South mini league will not go ahead, the Football Association have announced.

The FA’s Alliabnce Committee met today to discuss the proposal that would see an alternative mergere league go ahead after the normal season was declared null and void.

However, they deemed the competition would not be allowed.

An FA statement read: “Consideration was given to an alternative sporting solution at Step 2 in line with a proposal submitted by certain Step 2 clubs that wished to continue playing.

“The Alliance Committee rejected the proposal, and any alternative, in the interest of the integrity of the National League System.

“Further reasons for this decision will be communicated directly to clubs in due course.”

The Alliance Committee also rubber stamped the National League proposals to continue action at step one but declaring step two null and void.
