From fan to first teamer! Home boy Adams is back and eager to help Boston United charge up the table

Now the teenager is part of the Pilgrims’ squad and desperate to help give those fans he’s left on the sidelines something to cheer.

Adams - a United Centre of Excellence product who left the club to spend the past handful of seasons with Nottingham Forest’s academy - earned a deal with Dennis Greene’s side after impressing on trial this summer.

“It’s always a privilege to play for your home-town club and I want to do the best I can for the team,” Adams said.

“Even last year I was down on the Town End with the fans and all my mates.

“To play in front of them now is an honour for me.”

Adams - who would try to learn the winger’s role by keenly watching Ryan Semple in action - made his National league North debut from the bench as United were beaten 1-0 by Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

But now he is eyeing victories and a starting berth, vowing that leaving the City Ground has only taught him to take any further chances which come his way.

“It’s like coming home, I was here when I was younger,” Adams added.

“Forest was agood club but I’ll get over not getting a contract there.

“It’s a hurdle I’ll have to get over and this year I just want to come back stronger and hopefully cement a place in the starting XI some point this year.

“If I’m given my chance then hopefully I’ll help Boston finish as high up as we can.”
