Friendship and Rose And Crown, second and third respectively, drew 1-1, which would not have been good enough for either side if Mattersey had slipped up.

Kings Arms moved up to fourth with a 6-0 success against Smiffys United.

Owston Ferry Sports Club edged out AFC Clumber 3-2.

In Division Two, Albertos took a big stride towards winning the title with a 4-1 win over Leverton United.

Albertos need four points from two games to make sure of winning the title, although one more win may be enough. Albertos have been the most consistent side as challengers regularly lost matches.

That included MUSC, beaten 4-1 at home by Black Horse.

In a clash of the bottom two clubs, Morton won only their second league game with a 4-2 success at Ordsall AFC.

In Division Three, unbeaten Bridon AFC moved to within one win of the title after a 7-1 defeat of Stanwood Engineering.

Bridon have won 11 and drawn three of their 14 game.

Westwoodside had the better of the clash of the day in the division, beating Ship Inn Morton 2-0 to guarantee at least runners-up spot.
