The Boston United striker has been given the all clear following an X-ray on the broken metatarsal which has kept him out of action for the past 10 weeks.

But despite missing seven matches, the Pilgrims hotshot remains top of the division’s goalscoring charts.

The 22-year-old has 15 goals to his name, one more than the chasing pack of Liam King (North Ferriby), Danny Rowe (Fylde), Brendan Daniels (Harrogate) and Lowestoft’s Jake Reed, who was in action last night.

And with United currently sat sixth in the standings but able to move back into the play-off spots with a point at Bradford Park Avenue this evening, Southwell says there is all to play for.

“It’s been a horrible time,” he told The Standard.

“I hate having an injury and missing games. It’s
been frustrating watching the team and not being out
there.

“Fortunately, they’ve been doing well and we’re still in a good position.

“There are a lot of big games coming up and I want to be involved in them.

“There’s a lot than can still happen between now and the end of the season.”

Southwell is targeting tonight’s clash for his return (KO 7.45pm), and he’d love to find himself on the scoresheet to remain in the hunt for the golden boot.

“I’ve been keeping an eye on it,” he added of the top scorers’ chart.

“There are a few lads doing well.

“It could be tough to win it now, but I will always try to score goals and my aim will always be to be the division’s top scorer.”
