FOOTBALL: Coningsby knocked out of Sports Cup on penalties

Coningsby hosted Leverton for a quarter-final of the Boston League Sharman Burgess Sports Cup on Saturday.

Played in almost ideal conditions, it turned out to be an evenly matched game that was entertaining and good natured throughout.

But the match remained scoreless until the 82nd minute when Coningsby’s Andrew Chapman took a chance on a 30-yard solo run to boot the ball home.

The spectators thought it was all over but six minutes later Leverton got the equaliser.

Extra time failed to produce a result and so it went to penalties, in which Coningsby came out on the wrong side of a 4-2 scoreline.
