FOOTBALL: Lincs League getting congested at the top

It's all getting a bit congested amongst the chasing pack as away sides dominated the latest round of Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League games.

The shock of the day came at Eslaforde Park, where league leaders Sleaford Town Reserves were beaten by the odd goal in three by CGB Humbertherm.

Lincoln Railway AFC consolidated their fourth place in the table and closed the gap on the top three with victory at neighbours Ruston Sports. This leaves three sides at the summit on 29 points, but five points behind the leaders.

Champions Hykeham Town continued to put pressure on the high-flyers with their victory at Brigg, while Skegness United won the bottom of the table clash at Market Rasen Town.

Sleaford Town Reserves 1

CGB Humbertherm 2

A brace of goals from Luke Gray earned CGB Humbertherm three valuable points at leaders Sleaford Town Reserves.

On target for Sleaford, who have now gone four league games without a win, was Jason Barratt with his sixth league goal of the season.

Michael Sullivan scored a brace of goals to take his tally for the season to 12 in all competitions.

The pair was enough to see the reigning champions home against a side they meet again at the Memorial Hall Playing Fields later this month.

The result opened a three point advantage over their opponents in the top half of the table.

Skegness United 2

Skegness United avenged a defeat at the hands of Rasen two weeks earlier when they struck twice in the first half.

Danny Reid opened the scoring after 13 minutes when he controlled a cross from the right and swept the ball past Will Bradford in the home goal.

Arron Ford gifted the seasiders a second in the dying minutes of the first half when he stabbed the ball past Bradford following another cross from the right.

Ruston Sports 1

Lincoln Railway AFC 2

The Railmen beat local rivals Ruston Sports by the odd goal in three to close the gap at the top.

Matthew Burks and George Zuerner grabbed the goals as the visitors consolidated their fourth place.

John Waugh notched for Sports, but it wasn’t enough for a share of the spoils.
