FOOTBALL: OGFC claim Horncastle five-a-side title with a game to play

Game one saw top OGFC's nearest rivals, Tekkerslovakia, go head-to-head in this week's Horncastle Five-a-side League.

Top-of-the-league OGFC knew they needed to perform and not drop any points to prevent any final week dramas. But all went to plan as OGFC produced a typical and championship winning performance in a comprehensive 7-2 win, with Nathan Wright scooping the man of the match award ahead of Sam Johnson as they sealed the title with a game to play.

ISS RAFCATS put in a solid performance but were constantly thwarted in their game with Bantalona by the goalkeeping heroics of Graham Fidling, who again produced some truly outstanding saves to keep his team in the game.

Bantalona did grab a goal themselves and Fidling’s saves kept the game in balance throughout, but ISS RAFCATS claimed a deserved 2-1 win.

Ginger Gaffer and Ivory Toast faced off against each other in their points match which now sees Ginger Gaffer in pole position to claim their second successive runners-up spot.

Consistent performers Jack Harwood and Jack Whitt both collected man of the match awards for their goals and constant running throughout on a cold night.

The final game of the night saw Spandau Pele and Beercelona meet each other in an entertaining game.

Despite a good performance from Beercelona, particularly grabbing two goals, it was Andy Newton who made the difference for Spandau Pele who edged the match 3-2.
