Sleaford Town Reserves earned themselves a place in the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire League Challenge Cup Final with a 3-0 win over Cleethorpes Town Development Squad

Meanwhile, Sleaford’s lead at the top of the league was reduced when Wyberton closed the gap by winning their game in hand.

The villagers beat Market Rasen Town by the odd goal in three to reduce Sleaford’s advantage at the summit to just four points.

Skegness United ended a run of four consecutive defeats by sharing the spoils with Lincoln Railway AFC.

Skegness Town’s match at Lincoln-based Ruston Sports was postponed when the home side failed to raise a team.

In the Lincolnshire FA Junior Cup, a Chris Funnell penalty helped holders Hykeham Town to reach the final for the second year on the bounce.

League leaders Sleaford Town Reserves will meet either Skegness United or Hykeham Town in the Challenge Cup final after beating 10-man Cleethorpes Town DS in the semis at Eslaforde Park.

The visitors had to play most of the game with 10 after an early sending off.

Sleaford eventually broke them down with goals from Nathan Thompson and Liam Tunstall.

Fulstow-based CGB Humbertherm stopped the rot by holding Horncastle to a goalless draw.

The Therm had lost six on the trot prior to this fixture, against a Horncastle side who have only scored nine times in 14 league games.

Wyberton kept the pressure on leaders Sleaford Town Reserves with a home win against lowly Market Rasen Town.

But they needed a late Elliot Pogson penalty to secure the three points.

The villagers’ other scorer in a tight game was Anthony Slater.

George Asplin was on target for the visitors, who remain bottom of the league.

Fourth place Lincoln Railway AFC lost ground on the chasing pack when they were held to a draw at Skegness United.

Both Michael Howard and Nathan Wetton opened their accounts for the seasiders.

For the Railmen, Jordan Curtis netted his first from 18 appearances, while goal machine Simon Mowbray also found the back of the net with his 26th in all competitions.

For the second year running, holders Hykeham Town carry the Lincolnshire League’s flag into the final of the county cup.

Adam Wilkins’s men dominated the first half but had just the one goal to show for their efforts, scored by Callum Chapman.

James Bingham netted an equaliser for the men from the Isle of Axholme but the home side eased their way into the final showdown when they were awarded a penalty for a handball incident.

Chris Funnell stepped up and blasted home the ball from the spot.
