Former Premier League ace Julian Joachim helping Boston Town boss Gary Frost in his quest to find a jewel

Frost had already seen star striker Alex Beck and attacker Jack Wightwick leave the club - for Wisbech and Spalding United respectively - before Saturday’s arrival of Huntingdon Town.

But the depleted Poachers received a boost as former Aston Villa, Leicester City and Boston United striker Joachim - who now runs the Find A Jewel football agency, which looks to help grassroots players climb the footballing pyramid - gave them a heads up about two young players.

Michael Ogboin, who scored the side’s winning goal in their 3-2 victory, and Miles Arnold both answered the call as Town collected three valuable points.

“Julian wants to find a few gems in the game, and if he can send some our way they we’re happy with that,” Frost said.

“He’s from Boston and wants to help a home town club do well.

“It was nice to get off to a winning start, but now we’ve got to build on that.”

Janson Pinner and Shane Brackenbury also made their first Town appearances in that contest.

Meanwhile, during Tuesday evening’s defeat at in-form Deeping Rangers, Frost handed out five further debuts.

Twenty-six-year-old keeper Ash Malhotra - who has represented Panjab in the ConIFA World Cup, a tournament for football associations unaffiliated to FIFA - was joined by Skegness Town striker Will Britton, Jordan Turner, youth team product Mitchell Teft and Jay McDonald, who has played under Frost at Wyberton.

Town host Cogenhoe on Saturday (KO 3pm).
